I would like to publicly express my appreciation to Brent Marshall for his service and for caring about the ordinary citizen. I recently wrote a letter concerning the problems we were left with when Grantsville City completed the Willow Street sidewalk. A copy of the letter was mailed to Mayor Byron Anderson, [Grantsville City Public Works director] Joel Kertamus and all five members of the city council. Brent was the only person we heard back from. He was out of town when the letters were mailed. As soon as he arrived back home and saw the letter, he got in his car and drove to our house. He fully expected that someone else had already responded and was very surprised to find that he was the only one who cared enough. We never did hear a word from anyone else. Since no one responded, we could not help but take note of the following statement from Mayor Anderson in the Aug. 18 issue of the Transcript-Bulletin (“Right time for full-time?”): “If something needs attention, I’ll jump right on it.’” In the same article he also states that he is available for Grantsville citizens. We appreciate what Brent did and the fact that he cares about the “little man” and that his actions are based on simply how he can help. This is the kind of person we need at the head of our city government. He is an honest person and is dedicated to serving his community with integrity.
