Contest winner

Janice Jackson of Stansbury Park was last week’s winner of the Transcript-Bulletin football pick’em. Jackson finished with a 7-1 record, along with five other people but came up the closest in guessing the final score of the Wyoming at Utah game. This week is the final week for the contest. Picks can be dropped off at the Transcript office before 2 p.m. Friday or e-mailed to jgordon@tooeletranscript.com.

Tooel Junior Jazz

The Tooele Jr. Jazz youth basketball program will hold its annual registration days for the Tooele, Stansbury, Erda, Stockton and Lake Point areas on Nov. 5 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.; Nov. 7 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Nov. 12 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Nov. 14 from 10 .m. to 2 p.m. This year’s registration will be held at Quality Ford on Main Street in Tooele. The Jr. Jazz program provides a fun recreational game experience with opportunities to attend a Utah Jazz game and spend an evening with a Utah Jazz player. Jr. Stallion Basketball

Jr. Stallion Basketball registration is currently taking place. All basketball players (male/female), grades K-8th who attend Stansbury High boundary schools may register. Jr. Stallions will consist of 10 Saturday sessions and is intended to progressively teach individual and team basketball fundamentals. Cost: $50. Grantsville Junior Jazz

Grantsville Junior Jazz is going to have their sign-ups on Nov. 5 and 12 from 5-7 p.m. and on Nov. 14 from 5-8 p.m. All sign-ups will be at Williams Family Video located at 124 W. Main in Grantsville. Registration is for Grantsville residents or those who attend Grantsville schools. Sorry if this is a inconvenience to anyone but we have a shortage of gym space with the fire to Grantsville Elementary. Archery League

The indoor 3D indoor animal target league at Deseret Peak Complex will start on Nov. 5 at 7 p.m. The league is sponsored by Stansbury Oquirrh Bowmen and Tooele County Deseret Peak Complex. The league will continue every Thursday night through February. All level of shooters are invited to participate. For more information call Bryan Warr at (435) 882-6795.

Jazz loose to Rockets

The Utah Jazz were outscored 17 points in the final 10 minutes of Monday’s contest against Houston and lost the game 112-96. Houston was playing without stars Tracy McGrady and Yao Ming. Utah plays at Dallas tonight and hosts the San Antonio Spurs on Thursday. Mehmet Okur led Utah with 21 points, Brewer scored 19 and Williams and Andrei Kirilenko each chipped in with 18.
