Stansbury basketball

There will be a mandatory meeting for all players and their parents on Nov. 5 for those who are interested in playing both girls and boys basketball for Stansbury High School. The pre-tryout meeting will take place at 6:30 p.m. at the SHS gym. Following the meet there will be an “Italian Stallion” dinner with all proceeds from the dinner supporting the girls and boys basketball teams. Tryouts for both teams will take place between Nov. 9-11.

Club volleyball

Tooele Valley Club Volleyball is assessing interest of potential players in grades 5-12 and looking for coaches for the upcoming Junior Olympic season. Tooele High wrestling

Tryouts for the Tooele High wrestling team will be held on Monday, Nov. 9 at 2:45 p.m. in the Tooele High School wrestling room. Students should come ready to wrestle. Also, a parent-teacher meeting will held on Monday, Nov. 9 at 7 p.m. in the commons area of the high school. Parents will receive information about the wrestling program.

Tooele Junior Jazz

The Tooele Jr. Jazz youth basketball program will hold its annual registration days for the Tooele, Stansbury, Erda, Stockton and Lake Point areas on Nov. 5 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.; Nov. 7 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Nov. 12 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Nov. 14 from 10 .m. to 2 p.m. This year’s registration will be held at Quality Ford on Main Street in Tooele. The Jr. Jazz program provides a fun recreational game experience with opportunities to attend a Utah Jazz game and spend an evening with a Utah Jazz player. Jr. Stallion Basketball

Jr. Stallion Basketball registration is currently taking place. All basketball players (male/female), grades K-8th who attend Stansbury High boundary schools may register. Jr. Stallions will consist of 10 Saturday sessions and is intended to progressively teach individual and team basketball fundamentals. Cost: $50. Grantsville Junior Jazz

Grantsville Junior Jazz is going to have their sign-ups on Nov. 5 and 12 from 5-7 p.m. and on Nov. 14 from 5-8 p.m. All sign-ups will be at Williams Family Video located at 124 W. Main in Grantsville. Registration is for Grantsville residents or those who attend Grantsville schools. Sorry if this is an inconvenience to anyone but we have a shortage of gym space with the fire to Grantsville Elementary. Archery League

The indoor 3D indoor animal target league at Deseret Peak Complex will start tonight at 7 p.m. The league is sponsored by Stansbury Oquirrh Bowmen and Tooele County Deseret Peak Complex. The league will continue every Thursday night through February. All level of shooters are invited to participate. For more information call Bryan Warr at (435) 882-6795.

Korver coat drive

On Saturday, Kyle Korver and the Utah Jazz will host a coat drive at EnergySolutions Arena during the Jazz vs. Sacramento Kings game. Tipoff is at 7 p.m. Fans attending the game are encouraged to bring new coats (tags still attached) for donation to the Utah Dream Center and Salt Lake Education Foundation. For every coat donated, a voucher will be issued that admits two individuals into a private postgame autograph session with Kyle Korver. Korver will sign a complimentary photo that will be provided to the participant, or fans may substitute a personal item if preferred.

Yankees win series

The New York Yankees are back on top again in Major League Baseball after defeating the Philadelphia Phillies 7-3 in Game 6 of the World Series on Wednesday night. With Andy Pettitte on the mound, the Yankees won the series in six games. Hideki Matsui tied a World Series record with six RBIs in the final game.
